A recent survey of the top 30 teams in Europe has revealed that Manchester United’s brand value has risen higher than that of Real Madrid. Brand Finance Plc published the report that states United has a brand valuation of £412m, which is 11 percent higher than last year. This is the result of the success that Manchester United have enjoyed, winning the Premier League in a total of four out of the last five seasons.
Fans are clearly impressed with their team and it always helps when your team is successful. Similarly, Manchester United fans are usually pretty pleased with the way their team is playing and consequently are enthusiastic about their memorabilia and brand.
At the beginning of September 2011, the team announced that they had made a sponsorship agreement for their training apparel with the logistics company DHL that was worth £40m. The high amounts of money that global partners are willing to pay in order to become affiliated with Manchester United is a testament to the popularity and success of the team.
It is impressive that the team have eclipsed Real Madrid, as well as European champions Barcelona. It is estimated that the brand of Real Madrid is worth £401m. This is likely to be due to the fact that they sign some of football’s biggest names, including Christiano Ronaldo and Kaka. Barcelona’s brand is worth £392m, putting them in third place.
